Tamale’s Steadfast
Football Club

Founded in April 2016 by Hon. Haruna Iddrisu — lawyer, Member of Parliament for Tamale South, and Ghana’s Minister of Education — Steadfast FC was built on a single powerful belief: that football can transform lives in Northern Ghana.

Based at the iconic Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in Tamale, the club competes in Zone One of the Ghana Division One League — the second tier of Ghanaian football — with an unwavering ambition to reach the Ghana Premier League. Our rivalry with city neighbours Real Tamale United and Tamale City FC drives some of the most passionate football in the Northern Region.

Steadfast FC is not just about results. We are a talent factory for Ghana and the world. Our greatest achievement so far: nurturing Abdul Fatawu Issahaku from a teenager in Tamale to a Ghana Black Stars international and Leicester City winger — a €17 million transfer that sent shockwaves through African football.

Determination

We never give up, on the pitch or off it.

🌍 Our Greatest Export

From Tamale
to the Premier League

Steadfast FC’s greatest achievement is the development and export of Abdul Fatawu Issahaku — one of Africa’s brightest football talents.

Starting his senior career with Steadfast FC at just 15 years old in 2019, Fatawu scored 20 goals in 27 appearances before his talent caught the attention of the world. His explosive performances earned Ghana a historic U-20 Africa Cup of Nations title in 2021, where he was named the tournament’s Best Player.

He joined Sporting CP for €1.2M in 2022, then moved to Leicester City on a €17M permanent deal in 2024 — earning Steadfast FC a €7.9M sell-on clause windfall, the largest transfer fee ever received by a Northern Ghanaian club.
